TV actress Ankita Lokhande recently found herself at the centre of social media debate after sharing pictures from her Dubai and Abu Dhabi vacation with husband Vicky Jain. The controversy began after she posted photographs from a mosque visit in Abu Dhabi, where she wore a hijab. Ankita Lokhande Faces Backlash For Wearing Hijab
Ankita Lokhande shared a series of vacation pictures and videos from the UAE on her Instagram account. Among them were photos from a visit to a prominent mosque in Abu Dhabi. As per the mosque’s guidelines for visitors, the actor covered her head with a traditional scarf during the visit.
Soon after the pictures surfaced online, a section of social media users began trolling the actor. Some users questioned her choice of attire and compared the visit to her recent appearance at Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s Sri Sri Gaushala ashram.
Several comments appeared on social media, including: “Now tell those muslim ladies to wear sarees now,” while another user wrote, “Some of Hindus are always secular but but not a single muslim is secular !!! Bitter truth!!.. they are only muslims. .. why hijab. !!!??”
Another comment read, “Why is she wearing a hijaab?”, while one user wrote, “Jain Ho tm or Kya pahana h ye Kuch to socho.”
Ankita Lokhande Visits Gau Shala With Vicky Jain
The criticism intensified because only a few days earlier, Ankita and Vicky Jain had visited Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s gaushala. During the visit, the couple participated in activities such as feeding cattle and helping around the shelter. Many fans had appreciated the actor at the time for promoting Gau Seva and traditional values.
However, several social media users defended Ankita during the latest controversy. Fans pointed out that wearing a headscarf inside mosques is a common rule for visitors, regardless of religion. Others also noted that Ankita posted multiple pictures from the same outing without the hijab once she stepped outside the mosque premises.
This is not the first time Ankita Lokhande has faced criticism over similar attire. In 2025, she also drew attention online after wearing a hijab and greeting paparazzi with “Adaab” at the Mumbai airport.
On the work front, Ankita Lokhande was recently seen in Laughter Chefs Season 3. She rose to fame with Ektaa Kapoor’s popular television show Pavitra Rishta, alongside late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Over the years, she has also appeared in films such as Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, Baaghi 3, and Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.
