‘Chicago Fire’ Loses Another Beloved Cast Member Ahead of Season 14 originally appeared on Parade.
Chicago Fire is facing another major casting shakeup just weeks after losing two other major players from Firehouse 51.
TVLine revealed on Thursday, July 17, that semi-recent newcomer Michael Bradway, who starred as Kelly Severide’s (Taylor Kinney) little half-brother Jack Damon for the last two seasons, will not be returning for Season 14.
Just before news broke, Bradway shared that he’d been cast in Prime Video’s Every Year After, an adaptation of Carley Fortune’s novel Every Summer After. “Couldn’t be more excited to be your Charlie 🚤,” he wrote on Instagram.
Producers are reportedly on board to have him reprise his role if his schedule allows for it in the future, but fans are undeniably bummed by the news, especially in the wake of Jake Lockett, who played Sam Carver, and Daniel Kyri, who played Darren Ritter, leaving as series regulars (though showrunner Andrea Newman alluded to Parade that that doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t be seen again).
“Not liking the changes: he’s out and he’s in. I am late to the party but adding someone unknown to replace those not invited back makes me not want to attend,” one more recent viewer admitted in the comments of the announcement, likely referring to Brandon Larracuente’s addition to the cast amid the multiple exits.
“I’d rather they keep who they have instead of adding new characters,” someone else declared. “I like the current cast. Not sure what the point was of bringing in this half-brother for Severide, but oh well.”
“I’ll miss him and the others leaving Chicago Fire. I really liked all 3,” another mourned, with someone else agreeing, “I hate to know 3 regulars that we all really liked will not be returning! Shoot!”
“Please get this show more stable characters!” they added, as another agreed that there is “too much turnover on shows now.”
“I will miss him,” they affirmed.
But, you can’t please everyone, and one admitted, “To be fair, not gonna miss the guy.”
