Dhurandhar The Revenge continues to dominate conversations even after its massive theatrical success. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the spy thriller earned praise for its gritty storytelling and realistic socio-political backdrop. However, the recently released uncut version of the film, titled Raw and Undekha, has now sparked fresh discussions online after viewers discovered that the makers altered a controversial dialogue and references linked to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and the Khalistan movement.
Dhurandhar 2 Uncut Version Reveals Deleted 1984 Riots Reference
The extended cut of Dhurandhar 2 recently premiered on JioHotstar in India and JioHotstar around the globe. Soon after its release, several viewers began spotting hidden details, modified dialogues and changed character references from the theatrical version. One major change appears in the film’s interval sequence featuring a confrontation between Hamza aka Jaskirat, played by Ranveer Singh, and his childhood friend Pinda, played by Udaybir Sandhu.
Change In Dialogues
In the theatrical version, when Jaskirat confronts Pinda over drug trafficking and smuggling narcotics into India, Pinda responds: “Keda desh, wo Desh jinne hume apna maneya hi nahi.” Translated in English, the line means, “The country that never accepted us as one of its own.”
However, viewers on Reddit noticed that the dialogue appears dubbed over the original version. According to screengrabs and discussions shared online, the original Punjabi line allegedly was, “Keda desh? Wo desh jinne chaurasi vich apne bhaiyo nu mareya tha.” The line translates to, “The same country that killed our brothers in ’84.”
The dialogue directly references the 1984 anti-Sikh riots that followed the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The riots resulted in the deaths of thousands of Sikhs across India and remain one of the country’s darkest chapters.
Apart from the dialogue modification, viewers also noticed another significant change connected to the Khalistan angle. In the first version of the film, a character reportedly appeared in the credits as Happy PhD. In the revised cut, the name was changed to ‘Sunny DVD.’
Netizens React To These Changes
Online users pointed out that Happy PhD closely resembled the alias of Harmeet Singh, a real-life Khalistani militant and chief of the Khalistan Liberation Force, who India declared a terrorist before he was killed in 2020. The discoveries quickly triggered debate on social media, especially Reddit, where users shared mixed reactions to the edits.
One user wrote, “Man I really wanna know what was the original movie like without any scenes cut, removed, or altered.” Another defended the decision and said, “Aditya Dhar played it safe, keeping the focus on the Pakistani terror angle.”
Meanwhile, some viewers questioned whether the changes made any real difference. “But did these changes really help. Sunny DVD part was anyway not the main thing in that chapter. As for pinda, it was evident he is khalistani. So I don’t think dubbing those dialogues did any help. The khalistani angle was pretty evident.”
