Do Deewane Seher Mein Review

Ravi Udyawar’s Do Deewane Seher Mein is unlike any romantic drama you have seen across languages in the recent past. It talks about love and mutual understanding in a relationship while making sure that one doesn’t loose themselves in finding their perfect someone.

DDSM tells the love story of Shashank (Siddhant Chaturvedi) – a 6-figure drawing executive at a marketing firm and Roshni (Mrunal Thakur) – a content creator working for a beauty magazine. Unsuccessful in finding love the old fashion way, the two search for their perfect partners in the individuals their parents search for them via matrimony websites. But do they click or is their relationship sometime just to justify the phrase – ‘Iss desh mein log zyada taar karne ke liye karte hai shaadi’

To know the answer – and whether or not romance blooms between the leads as they try to overcome their personal shortcomings, you need to watch Do Deewane Seher Mein and here’s our review of the romantic drama.

What Works

Siddhant Chaturvedi’s acting is one of the best things of the film. Aside from his performance as Sashank (you will get this joke at the end of the end), the other things that stand out in this urban love story are its cinematography, drone shoots and the ability to preach without bring preachy.

What Doesn’t Work

Despite being just over 2 hours long, the film still feels stretched due to the characters performing the same ‘dance around the bush’ every time they come to a standstill. At times it feels like the film lacks a little salt to elevate it into becoming a perfect film for this Valentine’s season.

Technical Ananlysis

Direction

Ravi Udyawar has tried bringing a romance to Bollywood that’s not superficial or far-fetched but is 100% real and relatable with many living in cities as well as small towns. He’s managed to tell Shashank and Roshini’s love story beautifully while incorporating topics of self love and growth without being in your face.

Cast

Siddhant Chaturvedi has aced his role as Shashank and there is no denying that fact. He’s proved once more why he is considered among the best of his generation by performing (what starts of as) a monologue brilliantly. His mannerism, the conflict he faces as he tries to get the pronunciation of ‘sh’ perfectly and the desperation with which he attempts to over come his shortcoming is commendable.

Mrunal Thakur is beautiful as every but its seems like the director has underutilized her. Mrunal has more potential (that thankfully we will be seeing more off in the next couple of months). She’s believable as Roshini but may come on your nerves all because of the way her character is written.

Talking about the supporting cast, Viraj Ghelani as Shashank’s colleague and confidant, Ajay is a breath of fresh air. He’s the kind of friend we wish to have in our lives – someone who always has our back and motivates us to do better without ever putting us down. He brings the laugher as well as some advice gems that will make you reflect on life and the relationships you have in it.

Sandeepa Dhar brings in a raw vulnerability as Naina – Roshini’s elder married sister. While her screentime is less, she manages to win hearts with one emotional performance. Ila Arun, Joy Sengupta, Ayesha Raza, Inesh Kotian, Deepraj Rana and Mona Ambegaonkar are good in their roles as the leads’ family members. Achint Kaur and Naveen Kaushik also do justice to their roles as the bosses of Roshini and Shashank, respectively – especially Kaushik.

Conclusion

Siddhant Chaturvedi and Mrunal Thakur’s Do Deewane Shaher Mein is similar to a warm hug that will make you believe in love again while also helping you overcome any personal shortcomings you have. PS: If you are a single girl, don’t watch it – the expectations you will have is going to sky rocket thanks to Siddhant’s amazing performance and you feel extra along. And will then have to register on a matrimony site to find your special someone.

But jokes aside, do watch Do Deewane Seher Mein this weekend to feel and fall in love with all the wrinkles and imperfections.
