Jessie J became emotional on stage as she introduced a song inspired by her 2021 pregnancy loss.

The singer, 37, broke down on stage on Thursday, November 28 as she commemorated four years since she suffered a miscarriage, per footage shared by The Daily Mail.

Introducing her new track, “Comes in Waves,” Jessie (real name Jessica Ellen Cornish) became visibly emotional as she explained to the audience that the song was inspired by her own pregnancy loss and grief.

“Today marks four years that I lost my baby,” Jessie told the audience, per the video footage. “I don’t know if anyone has gone through the same thing, but if you have, or you know someone close to you and you saw it, it’s really f**ing bad.”

She added, “It’s something that you can’t ever really prepare to go through. This song is for anybody that needs that hug. I hope this song can help you as it’s helped me.”

Pregnant Jessie J Shares Sweet Video of Her Baby Moving Around in Her Belly

The “Price Tag” singer previously spoke candidly about her miscarriage experience during a May 2022 episode of “The Diary of a CEO With Steven Bartlett” podcast.

Jessie explained how she felt after being told by doctors in November 2021 that her baby’s heart was no longer beating.

“I remember just going home and not processing it,” she recalled.

Jessie shared that the “worst moment of the whole experience” was the sense of loneliness she felt alongside the grief and loss.

“I felt like I’d been given everything I’d ever wanted and then someone had gone, ‘But you can’t have it,’” she said on the podcast. “I’ve never felt so lonely in my life.”

In 2021, Jessie had not yet publicly revealed she was pregnant after deciding to have a baby on her own, but ultimately decided to post on social media about her miscarriage.

“💔 Yesterday morning I was laughing with a friend saying ‘Seriously though how am I going to get through my gig in LA tomorrow night without telling the whole audience I am pregnant,’” Jessie captioned an Instagram selfie with a pregnancy test on November 24. “By yesterday afternoon I was dreading the thought of getting through the gig without breaking down… After going for my 3rd scan and being told there was no longer a heartbeat 💔.”

She further detailed her grief, adding, “I decided to have a baby on my own. Because it’s all I’ve ever wanted and life is short. To get pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I will never forget and I know I will have again. I’m still in shock, the sadness is overwhelming. But I know I am strong, and I know I will be ok.”

Following her miscarriage, Jessie began dating basketball player Chanan Colman. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Sky, in May 2023.

“A week ago my whole life changed,” Jessie wrote via an Instagram Story at the time. “My son entered this world and my heart grew twice the size. The feeling is indescribable [and] I am flying in love. He is magic. He is all my dreams come true [and] he is my whole 🌍.”

“He and I are both doing great. I am soaking up every second and still can’t believe he is real, here and mine. I am so grateful.”
