Katy Perry took Us to space with a futuristic mask hiding her entire face while attending the 2026 Met Gala.

Perry, 41, stunned in a white gown at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute fundraiser on Monday, May 4. Honoring the occasion’s “Costume Art” theme, Perry channeled a futuristic vibe with a mask that largely blocked her face from view before briefly flashing a smile at photographers.

Perry’s attendance at the Met Gala comes shortly after actress Ruby Rose alleged that she was “assaulted” by the “Hot N Cold” singer over 20 years ago. Perry vehemently denied the accusations.

“The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies,” Perry’s rep told Us Weekly in a statement last month. “Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”

Met Gala 2026: Stars Embrace ‘Costume Art’ Theme With Bold Red Carpet Looks

Perry last attended the Met Gala in 2022, wowing in a one-shouldered Oscar de la Renta black-and-white gown for the “In America” exhibit.

“I feel great. It’s not my first rodeo, so I feel like I can relax,” she told Vogue on the red carpet. “Last time I came to the Met, I was [in] a cheeseburger [costume]. I loved it, I was like, ‘What am I going to do tonight? I’m going to play a whole different card.’ I feel like I’m accepting the darling darkness.”

The pop star is often a fixture at Fashion’s Biggest Night, previously stepping out on the Met steps in 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2013 and 2010. She even cochaired the 2017 Met Gala, calling it a special moment in her career.

“I felt like I belonged in fashion, finally,” she recalled to Vogue in 2023. “I didn’t want to wear something that was designer just because it was designer. I only wore it if it spoke to me and if it helped represent who I was at the time and I was really [feeling this Galliano wool coat] at that moment, too. I felt like, ‘Wow I’m in sync with fashion and who I am.’”

Katy Perry’s Met Gala Evolution: Chandelier Dresses, Larger-Than-Life Wings

Despite a lengthy attendance record, Perry skipped the ball last year. Fans were tricked into thinking she walked the iconic red carpet and stairs after viral AI-generated images of the singer circulated online.

“Couldn’t make it to the MET, I’m on The Lifetimes Tour (see you in Houston tomorrow IRL‼️),” Perry wrote via Instagram in May 2025, referring to her concert tour. “This year, I was actually with my mom so she’s safe from the bots but I’m praying for the rest of y’all.”

While Perry went futuristic on Monday, there was one accessory missing from her other-worldly ensemble: her boyfriend, former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau. Perry and Trudeau, 54, have been dating since summer 2025 following the singer’s split from Orlando Bloom. (Perry and Bloom, 49, share daughter Daisy, 5, while Trudeau coparents three kids with ex-wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau.)

“Katy is really into it. She’s very happy,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in October 2025. “She’s trying to keep it low-key, and they’ve spent a lot of private time together. …Their friends think they are a good match, but he actually hasn’t met a lot of her friends yet.”
