Being a Real Housewife isn’t all diamonds and rosé — just ask the many Bravolebrities whose legal woes have played out in the spotlight.

While some franchises tackle the lawsuits on air — including Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Teresa and Joe Giudice’s fraud case, Real Housewives of New York City’s Sonja Morgan’s bankruptcy filing and Real Housewives of Beverly HillsErika Jayne’s estranged husband’s embezzlement lawsuit — other stars try to keep the courtroom proceedings off air. Dorit Kemsley, for instance, was confronted by her RHOBH castmates over claims that she allegedly owed her former business partner money, but the drama never made it to air. Onlookers’ videos of the incident, however, went viral online.

“Obviously it happened, it’s all over the Internet,” Kemsley told Andy Cohen in 2019 while reflecting on the “embarrassing” confrontation caught on tape. “I was grateful that the other ladies didn’t bring it up this season. … I’m very comfortable with our position, but unfortunately my hands are tied. You can’t discuss legal issues when they are going on and I respect that.”
