The song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke, featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, is currently at the centre of controversy. The song features Sanjay Dutt and has sparked debate over its lyrics. The Hindi version of the song was written by Raqib Alam, who clarified that he did not compose the song himself but simply translated it directly from Kannada. Nora Fatehi has also addressed the issue, issuing a statement to clarify her stance.

Nora Fatehi Reveals The Truth Behind Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke Song

The actress shared a video on social media in which she explained, “First of all, I shot this song in Kannada three years ago. I agreed to do it because it was part of a big film and featured the iconic Sanjay Dutt. I trusted the filmmakers on set, so I went ahead with it. When I shot the song, I had no idea it was so vulgar. But when I heard the Hindi version, I realised it was extremely inappropriate.”

The dancer-actress wrote, “I would hate for anyone to think I endorse this. Thank you for the backlash because of this pressure the filmmakers have luckily taken it down. I’d also request everyone to stop sharing the song because ur just giving it a platform unnecessarily. On a side note, I see some of u guys trying to use this as an opportunity to attack my character. It’s unfortunate. Anyways me and my team will be more careful in the future in such situations. However, I do want to reiterate I had no idea about this Hindi song, I did not perform to it and there was no permission taken to use it with my image.”

Nora also spoke about other aspects of the controversy. Earlier, Raqib Alam, who translated the song, told NDTV, “Director Prem wrote this song in Kannada. He asked me to translate it exactly as it was. I refused, saying that such lyrics wouldn’t pass censorship, but Prem insisted on keeping it that way to create controversy.” He further expressed feeling insulted, clarifying that the lyrics were not his original creation.

About The Controversy

The opening verse of Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke features double entendre with graphic references to sex. The song was released in multiple languages—Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada—by Anand Audio, the film’s official music partner. The Hindi version has since been taken down from YouTube.

Over the past few days, the song has drawn criticism from the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA), actress Kangana Ranaut, and singer Armaan Malik, among others, who have condemned its objectionable lyrics. ANI reported that a lawyer has filed a petition with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) seeking an immediate ban and removal of the song, citing concerns that its lyrics and visuals are obscene and potentially harmful to minors. Additionally, a criminal complaint has been lodged with the Delhi Police Cyber Cell regarding the song.

KD: The Devil is scheduled to release in theatres on April 30.
