Vikrant Massey took a break from films in December 2024 to prioritise his family, especially his son Vardaan. Fans were surprised when Vikrant announced his hiatus from acting in December 2024, sparking discussions about industry pressures and nepotism. However, he later clarified that his decision was entirely personal, driven by his love for his son and feelings of “dad guilt.”
Vikrant Massey Opens Up About His Career Break
Alongside his wife, Sheetal Thakur, Vikrant shared insights into their parenthood journey on Parineeti Chopra’s show Mom Talks. He said, “You know how much we give of ourselves emotionally, physically, mentally. As a first-time father, my attention was always at home. I didn’t even question what or why I was doing. I just wanted to wrap up my commitments and spend as much time as possible with Vardaan and Sheetal Thakur. I have said this before—I was feeling a little lonely. There was a void,” reflecting his emotional struggle.
He recalled a heartfelt moment when his son, during a visit to his grandmother, tried to say “papa” for the first time. Though Vardaan only blew air, the moment made Vikrant realise the importance of being fully present at home. Two months later, he announced his break from work, calling it the “biggest earning of my life.”
The 12th Fail said, “That’s when it struck me—it was time to go back home. Two months later, I made the announcement. This has become the biggest earning of my life—I have received more than I ever wanted.”
Vikrant Massey On Fatherhood
Sharing his thoughts on fatherhood, Vikrant noted that while fathers often do less than mothers, they still go through profound emotional changes after their child’s arrival. He explained, “Just like new mothers, new fathers also feel strange about stepping out and leaving their baby behind. There’s a conditioning that men must be the providers—that’s what pushes us out of the house. It’s natural to envy the one who gets to stay back.”
He urged new dads to accept their vulnerability and embrace their desire to spend more time with their children.
